STUDENT PASS ISSUES AND ACTIVATION OF STUDY STATUS FOR INTERNATIONAL POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS

Dear International Postgraduate Students,

If you are encountering issues with activating your study status due to your Student Pass, please refer to the following guidance, which provides the necessary steps based on the validity of your pass. Kindly review your situation and take action accordingly.

Case 1: Student Pass is valid for more than 3 months

  • Wait for a reply. Once you receive the reply, check your portal after 15 minutes.
  • Activate your study status via the portal.

Case 2: Student Pass is valid for less than 3 months

Case 3: Expired Student Pass

  • Submit your Student Pass renewal application via U-Assist immediately if you are in Malaysia.
  • If outside Malaysia, apply for a new Visa Approval Letter (VAL) through the EMGS system. Before applying, contact your respective graduate school (AHSGS, GSGSG, or UPS-COB) to obtain:
    • A calling letter with the new commencement date.
    • A letter certifying your study status.
  • Visit http://ciac.uum.edu.my/visa for detailed renewal instructions.

Case 4: No Student Pass and Never Entered Malaysia

  • Apply for a new Visa Approval Letter (VAL) through the EMGS system.
  • Before applying, contact your respective graduate school (AHSGS, GSGSG, or UPS-COB) to obtain:
    • A calling letter with the new commencement date.
    • A letter certifying your study status.
  • Once you have these documents, proceed with your VAL application.
  • Wait for the VAL to be issued and download it.
  • Enter Malaysia with the new VAL.
  • Apply for the Student Pass via U-Assist.
  • Activate your study status after obtaining the Student Pass.
