UUM ONLINE: Jakarta - The first-ever collaboration between Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) and the State Islamic University (UIN) in Indonesia received extensive coverage in the country's media.
UUM is the first university from Malaysia to have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with five UINs under the aegis of the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenag).
According to the Director General of Islamic Education, Kemenag, Prof. Dr Muhammad Ali Ramdhani said, education is not solely a mere obligation or a constitutional duty, but rather a collective responsibility aimed at producing a populace that is highly educated.
"I feel honoured and happy today (yesterday) to be able to witness the historic moment of collaboration not only between these two entities, but also involving two countries that possess the capacity to advance civilization," he said.
The dynamic cooperation between UIN and UUM has facilitated the realisation of the internationalisation agenda for ‘Perguruan Tinggi Keagamaan Islam (PTKI) Indonesia’, thereby elevating its status to that of a world-class institution like UUM, which is widely recognised as the Eminent Management University in Malaysia, not only known in the Asian region but also the world.
Meanwhile, according to the Director of PTKI, Mr. Ahmad Zainul Hamdi, the process of collaboration has been in place for a considerable period, with Dr. Muhammad Ali Ramdhani playing a pivotal role in spearheading PTKI's internationalisation initiatives.
“Finally, the realisation of our aspiration is attainable through the crucial measure of initiating collaboration with UUM.
“I have personally observed the effective leadership and management of the university. Despite being in its formative years, UUM has garnered numerous accomplishments and has established a commendable reputation on a global scale,” said Mr. Ahmad Zainul Hamdi.
