UUM ASSISTS IN PRODUCING 5,000 PHD GRADUATES FROM UNIVERSITAS MUHAMMADIYAH INDONESIA
UUM ONLINE: Jakarta - The Education and Research Council of Muhammadiyah Central Leadership (PP Muhammadiyah) will be providing opportunities for more than 5,000 students to pursue their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programmes in Malaysia with the assistance of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM).
UUM, represented by its Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Mohd Foad Sakdan, signed a Letter of Intent (LOI), yesterday with PP Muhammadiyah's Education and Research Council, represented by its Chairman, Prof. Dr. Bambang Setiaji.
"I would like to extend my appreciation as UUM will assist and collaborate with PP Muhammadiyah's Education and Research Council in producing PhD graduates, especially in UUM," said Prof. Dr. Mohd Foad.
The candidates who are sent to UUM will commence their academic sessions either in September or October for a duration of five years," added Prof. Dr. Mohd Foad.
These PhD candidates are part of the academic professionals and staff of Muhammadiyah hailing from across Indonesia. They will pursue their studies in diverse disciplines such as management, business, and engineering.
In total, more than 5,000 students from Muhammadiyah Indonesia and Universiti Muhammadiyah Malaysia (UMAM) in Perlis are expected to pursue their PhD studies in Malaysia, including at several other public universities in the country.
According to Prof. Dr. Mohd Foad, it is anticipated that a minimum of 1,000 PhD graduates can be produced when they pursue their studies at UUM.
Prior, Vice-Chancellor of UMAM, Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Waluyo Adi Siswanto, held a meeting with the Vice-Chancellor of UUM to expedite the process and reaffirm the dedication to producing 5,000 PhD graduates.
