UUM ONLINE: Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) has been acknowledged as the 71st top university in the world under 50 years old by the Times Higher Education (THE) Young University Rankings 2024. The announcement was made yesterday at 1 p.m. local time.
UUM's ranking last year improved significantly, moving up 24 positions to become the 95th best in the world.
UUM's recognition as the top public university in Malaysia in the rankings solidifies its position as a leader in the field.
UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr Mohd Fuad Sakdan expressed his gratitude to all the members of the members of the campus community who have consistently contributed to UUM’s national and international recognition.
According to him, it can be quite challenging for a university to secure a spot in the Top 100 ranking, especially when faced with intense competition from other prestigious universities.
"With UUM turning 40 this year, this outcome demonstrates UUM’s ongoing success on the international stage, especially in the fields of management, business, and accounting, as well as social sciences.
"UUM's impressive rise of 24 places to the 71st position in the global rankings is attributed to its strong performance in the citation indicator, along with maintaining high marks for the teaching and research category.
"This indirectly aligns the image and reputation of UUM with that of globally acclaimed universities that have established their achievements," he stated.
