16 January 2025 - Centre for International Affairs and Cooperation (CIAC), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) partnered with S.K. Teluk Bahang, Penang, to deliver an exciting Knowledge Transfer Program (KTP) designed to introduce young minds to the world of foreign languages. The program, titled “LingoQuest: Foreign Language Immersion,” engaged 78 enthusiastic 12-year-old students in a series of interactive and enjoyable learning activities.
The program was divided into three engaging parts. The first session introduced students to basic Japanese, incorporating fun group activities to make learning enjoyable and memorable. The second session focused on Mandarin, teaching basic pronunciation and the meanings of common words. The program culminated in a creative exercise where students visualized their future ambitions by drawing them on sticky notes. Selected students were then invited to share their dreams with the group, fostering confidence and communication skills.
This KTP offered immense benefits to both the international students from UUM and the students of S.K. Teluk Bahang. For the school students, it sparked an interest in language learning, broadened their cultural awareness, and encouraged them to reflect on their future aspirations. For the UUM students involved in facilitating the program, it provided valuable experience in teaching, communication, and community engagement, enhancing their personal and professional development.
This collaborative effort fostered a meaningful exchange of knowledge and experience, benefiting both communities. As the session concluded, the smiles and enthusiastic feedback from the students at S.K. Teluk Bahang affirmed the program’s success in building bridges through language and shared experiences.
